And such gastronomical affairs of the heart (and stomach) will be food for thought for the 45+ age group at the Baby Boomers & Retirees Lifestyle Expo 2010.

A highlight to the celebrations will be the Food & Wine Tasting and Sales Area at the Expo, featuring fine wine makers and gourmet food producers offering tasting and advice, as well as three days of cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs.

Tastebuds will be tantalised as the crème de la crème of Australia’s gourmet food producers cook up a storm with in the Demonstration Kitchen to stimulate the appetite of any fine dining connoisseur.

We are delighted and very excited to announce that Chef's Toolbox will be sponsoring our Demonstration Kitchen and showcasing Guest Chefs and Cooking Demonstrators utilising locally grown produce from New South Wales regions. Celebrity Chefs this year will include the culinary talents of Lentil as Anything’s personable chef Errol Schwallie, author of Back to the Basics Karen McAllister and On the Plate’s key personality Anna Phillips, who will all share their love of Gourmet International Food.

In vino veritas (in wine there is truth) – it's an adage as old as Bacchus – and the truth is epicureans will be left with an indelible impression on their palates as the finest of Australian wines is also showcased.

The history of wine dates back to the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. It is even written that Jesus turned water into wine for a wedding feast – but don't expect such holy happenings here!

Exhibition Director, Olivia Ford said that, as Australia's premier show for Baby Boomers, food and wine were always going to play a pivotal role.

"This generation of greying Australians have the time and disposable income to wine and dine with discernment," she said.

"They love their food, they know their food and are always looking for new culinary experiences. And with our country’s wealth of gourmet trails and magnificent wine regions, there is ample opportunity to explore. People in their 50s and older have borne witness to a revolution in Australian cuisine fuelled in part by extensive migration. Boiled peas, mashed potato and a chunk of well done chop may be what they grew up on, but the Baby Boomers are much more sophisticated in their approach to food."
